Polylux began as a 24-7 community inspired by monastic traditions and has since grown into a non-profit organization based in Datzeberg, a neighbourhood of Neubrandenburg, Germany. Since 2008, we have been working alongside our neighbours, supporting the social, spiritual, and cultural life of the community. Datzeberg, a typical East German prefabricated housing estate, is marked by socioeconomic challenges and a largely secular context. It is the neighbourhood we love—the place where we believe Jesus has called us, where we are committed to building relationships, fostering hope, and contributing to the common good.
Polylux began when four friends from northeastern Germany sensed God calling them to invest in a region often dismissed as a place where “nothing ever happens.” In Neubrandenburg, they felt drawn to Datzeberg, a neighbourhood marked by poverty and social exclusion, believing that this was exactly where something beautiful should grow. They eventually moved into the neighbourhood, where the community lived, worked, and prayed together for 12 years while building the non-profit organization. That vision still shapes us today: seeking justice, cultivating hope, and helping our neighbourhood flourish.
