The Greater Ontario House of Prayer is an urban monastic community that cultivates prayer, pursues justice and engages in mission in Hamilton, Canada. Our staff and Companions adhere to a shared rule of life that includes prayer, fasting, spiritual direction, sabbath and retreat. We help others strengthen their prayer life and deepen their relationship with God through regular prayer events, special prayer gatherings, retreats and courses. Highlights of our year include a 2-week prayer room in partnership with a network of local churches, and Prayer Truck where we take prayer to the streets of downtown Hamilton and pray for friends and neighbours.
Jill and Kirk Weber launched the Greater Ontario House of Prayer in 2001. The dream was to foster prayer and worship in Southern Ontario. About ten years later, GOHOP crossed paths with 24-7 Prayer whose approach resonated with the needs of our city and our desire to make a difference for the kingdom in Hamilton. Embracing core values of prayer, creativity, justice, hospitality, mission and learning, 24-7 Prayer helped us connect with a broader network of local churches and ministries. Now, all these years later, GOHOP continues to cultivate prayer in our city, inviting people to explore different prayer expressions and traditions.
