Emmaus Rd Church is a vibrant community and training hub for the 24-7 movement throughout Europe. Emmaus Rd centres everything it does in prayer whilst seeking to make a measurable difference amongst the poor and the lost.
Here in the city where the 24-7 Prayer movement was launched in 2000, Emmaus Rd Church has grown into a large, multi-congregational church community. Centred in prayer, mission and justice, we aim to get to know Jesus better every week and create a church family where everyone feels like they belong.
We learn from the Bible, worship God, and pray together as we resource and equip each other to fight injustice, act against inequality and love people into the Kingdom of Jesus.

Emmaus Rd Church began with a multiplication of prayer across a city, forming a community which met (appropriately enough) in an Inn with a landlord who originated from Bethlehem! Originally led by Ian Nicholson and others from local churches seeking a ‘new’ way of doing prayer and community across their town, in 2006 Pete and Sammy Greig moved to Guildford to join this small community of about 30 people, and as the community grew they were invited to step into senior leadership in 2008, renaming the community as Emmaus Rd Church.
We began to grow quickly, moving into a succession of larger venues, and planting congregations into nearby locations; first into Woking, then into Aldershot, and partnering with the young community established at Waverley Abbey House, in nearby Farnham. In 2025, Pete & Sammy felt led to lay down their role of leadership within the church, and the wonderful Sarah Yardley stepped into the position of Lead Pastor.
Our vision to this day is to ‘reach our region with the good news of the Gospel, and to be a resource to the global 24-7 Prayer movement.’ Our slogan, borrowed from the early 24-7 mission teams, is ‘Pray. Play. Obey.’, as we continue seeking to help transform lives with the love of Jesus through acts of kindness, generosity and service.
