Meet the community

Canterbury Boiler Room is a prayer community in Canterbury. Based in our ‘cityspace’ building at 47 Northgate, we love providing hospitality and a warm welcome to anyone who needs somewhere free and friendly to be. We are privileged to be able to open up a peaceful, prayerful space in the city, and we do whatever we can to encourage creativity, both by being creative ourselves and by celebrating the creativity of others. And around all of that, we pray together, asking God to make this city we love into a place brimming over with joy, peace and hope.

Our Story

Canterbury Boiler Room has been around since 2010 and we’ve made our home in various different places in the city over the years. We started because a few of us had a vision for a community of people who would get together to pray, uniting across all sorts of different faith backgrounds and walks of life. We spent a few years praying above an estate agent shop, but our desire for a ground-floor space just kept getting bigger, because we longed to see what God might do if we opened the door, put the kettle on and welcomed whoever came in. We’ve seen countless wonders in our years of doing that, and it continues to be a wild and wonderful adventure.
