Meet the Community

Awaken Ballymena is a cross-community, multi-denominational movement of prayer bringing together believers from across the town and surrounding area, and from many different churches, in prayer and collaborative Kingdom endeavour! Yes, we are a house of prayer, but that can imply static and in-house, when actually our most regular rhythm is the weekly “Crack of Dawn” prayer walk from 6:30-7:30am every Wednesday.

Digging deeper in united prayer, mission and justice for Ballymena and beyond in a historically divided society, Awaken seeks to draw the body of Christ together to see the Kingdom of God come. We do this through weekly prayer walking, town wide prayer initiatives and building missional connections.

We are part of Tobar Network, as well as working in partnership with Without Walls, a local charity (and any other partners) to fulfil these aims.

Our Story

Awaken Ballymena, which in 2025 was welcomed into the 24-7 Prayer movement and its indigenous footprint in Ireland, called Tobar (meaning “well”), has evolved out of Ballymena House of Prayer which was launched in 2010. From the start, we’ve been inspired and encouraged by the rhythms of prayer, story and resources of 24-7 prayer. We have always had rhythms of weekly prayer, united monthly gatherings, and annual retreats. A passion to see our town and region transformed by the love and power of Christ and His Kingdom has generated a variety of different prayer and community projects.
