About

24-7 Prayer and Waverley Abbey are inviting you to celebrate with us at our annual Founders’ Day on Thursday 5 September, 2024.

It’s a momentous day because we’re marking exactly 25 years since the first ever 24-7 Prayer Room was launched on the South Coast of England. Since then, there have been over 25,000 prayer rooms in over half the nations on earth; a global chain of prayer that’s continued non-stop for a quarter of a century.

Founders’ Day is the annual celebration of the shared vision of Waverley Abbey and 24-7 Prayer. Two years ago, we joined together to  build a new abbey for a new generation, and that’s why we’re so excited for you to join us to celebrate  in the beautiful grounds of Waverley Abbey House .

Together, we’re celebrating with paella, pudding, and of course, birthday cake!

Our passion for non-stop prayer is inspired by the community of Herrnhut, which was founded over 200 years ago in Germany. Their commitment to unceasing prayer was the beginning of modern mission and prayer movements which took the gospel to the nations. Today, Waverley Abbey, like Herrnhut, is a radical new centre of encounter, education and hospitality for the spiritual and cultural renewal of the nation.

We’ve been praying non-stop for a quarter of a century, and we’re just getting started. Come and celebrate with us as we remember how God has done immeasurably more than all we could have asked or imagined, as we look forward in faith to what God could do through another quarter of a century of prayer, mission and justice.
