An earthquake struck Türkiye and Syria early on Monday morning and it was felt in Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine. Christelle Hayek, team coordinator for 24-7 Prayer Lebanon, has written this blog to help us pray for everyone who has been affected by this earthquake.

Pray for Türkiye and Syria

There have been hundreds of deaths and injuries, and many people are still under the rubble.

Our God of peace, bring your Shalom to the hearts of those who are troubled and your comfort to those who are mourning.

Our God who heals, Jehovah Rapha, bring healing to the bodies and souls of those who have been affected by this earthquake in any way.

Pray for Lebanon

There have been no casualties in Lebanon but many citizens said the experience evoked the traumatic memory of August 4, 2020* or other catastrophes Lebanon has gone through in the past.

God of peace, Jehovah-Shalom, bring your Shalom to the hearts of those who had a stress reaction to the earthquake and brought back memories of wars and tragedy.

*The date of a warehouse explosion in Beirut that killed over 200 people and injured more than 7,000.

Truths to Meditate On

When catastrophes happen, we can often wonder about or doubt God’s goodness and sovereignty.

Here are five truths about God to hold onto:

• God loves us “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 36:5-7
• God sits with is through the pain and weeps with us. He didn’t promise a life without trouble in this broken world, but guaranteed His peace and presence with us through it all. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
• God hears our prayers and answers “In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.” Psalm 18:6
• God comforts us “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
• God heals our hearts “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

صلّي من أجل الزلزال الذي حصل في تركيا وسوريا ولبنان

هزّ زلزال تركيا وسوريا صباح يوم الإثنين، شعر به سكّان لبنان والأردن وفلسطين.

مئات الموتى والجرحى، ولازال العديد تحت الردم

يا اله السلام، يهوه شالوم، املئ القلوب المضطربة بسلامك، وعزّي القلوب النائحة

أيها اله الشافي، يهوه رافا، اشفي قلوب، ونفوس كل الذين تأثّروا بأي طريقة بالزلزال.

لبنان

لم تسجّل أي إصابات، لكن قال العديد من المواطنين إن الحدث أثار ذكرى الرابع من آب ٢٠٢٠ المؤلمة أو مصائب اخرى مرّت على البلاد في الماضي

يا اله السلام، يهوه شالوم، املئ بسلامك القلوب التي اجتاحها القلق بسبب الزلزال وأحيت ذكريات حروب ومآسي.

تأمّل بهذه الحقائق الخمس

عندما تحصل الكوارث، يصبح من السهل أن نشكّ بصلاح الله وسلطانه. جمّعنا بعض الحقائق لنتمسّك بها

١. الله يحبّنا

يَا رَبُّ، إِنَّ رَحْمَتَكَ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ، وَأَمَانَتَكَ تَبْلُغُ الْغُيُومَ. عَدْلُكَ ثَابِتٌ مِثْلُ الْجِبَالِ الشَّامِخَةِ، وَأَحْكَامُكَ كَالْعُمْقِ السَّحِيقِ. وَأَنْتَ يَا رَبُّ تَحْفَظُ النَّاسَ وَالْبَهَائِمَ جَمِيعاً. اللهُمَّ، مَا أَثْمَنَ رَحْمَتَكَ! فَإِنَّ بَنِي الْبَشَرِ يَحْتَمُونَ فِي ظِلِّ جَنَاحَيْكَ مزمور ٣٦: ٥-٧

٢. يجلس الله معنا وقت ألمنا وينوح معنا. لم يعدنا قط بحياة خالية من الاضطرابات في هذا العالم الساقط، بل أكّد لنا حضوره وسلامه وسطها جميعها

. أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِهَذَا كُلِّهِ لِيَكُونَ لَكُمْ فِيَّ سَلامٌ. فَإِنَّكُمْ فِي الْعَالَمِ سَتُقَاسُونَ الضِّيقَ. وَلكِنْ تَشَجَّعُوا، فَأَنَا قَدِ انْتَصَرْتُ عَلَى الْعَالَمِ! يوحنا ١٦:٣٣

٣. الله يستمع لصلواتنا ويستجب

فِي ضِيقِي دَعَوْتُ الرَّبَّ وَصَرَخْتُ إِلَى إِلَهِي، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتِي مِنْ هَيْكَلِهِ، وَصَعِدَ صُرَاخِي أَمَامَهُ، بَلْ دَخَلَ أُذُنَيْهِ. مزمور ١٨:٦

٤. الله يعزّينا

طُوبَى لِلْحَزَانَى، فَإِنَّهُمْ يَتَعَزَّوْنَ. متى ٥:٤

٥. الله يشفي قلوبنا

إِنَّهُ يَشْفِي مُنْكَسِرِي الْقَلْبِ وَيُضَمِّدُ جِرَاحَهُمْ. مزمور ١٤٧:٣
