Week: Me and The World
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Jesus, You came to bring peace and healing, and because of You we can now be reconciled with God, with ourselves, with other people and with the whole world. We’re ready for You to restore our relationships a little bit more today.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:
Read by Jackson J
Colossians 1:20
And through Christ, God has brought all things back to himself again – things on earth and things in heaven. God made peace through the blood of Christ’s death on the cross.
Colossians 1:20 (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
We’re REFLECTING on some verses from the Psalms that speak about why God made us.
Read by Jackson J
Psalm 8:3-8
I look at your heavens,
which you made with your fingers.
I see the moon and stars,
which you created.
But why are people even important to you?
Why do you take care of human beings?
You made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You put them in charge of everything you made.
You put all things under their control:
all the sheep, the cattle,
and the wild animals,
the birds in the sky,
the fish in the sea,
and everything that lives under water.
Psalm 8:3-8 (NCV)
Yesterday, we reflected on God’s plan for all of creation to flourish and reach its full potential. Even though this was God’s plan, sadly it isn’t what we see around us.
People in many places around the world don’t have what they need to thrive, and the same is true for many animals and plants too. There are lots of reasons for this, but one of the main ones is simply that we – human beings – haven’t cared for the world in the way that we should, in the way God commanded us to at the very beginning.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: What are some of the ways we can look after the earth that God created?
And now we ask God to help us and others.
Creator God, thank You for all that you have created. We ASK You to forgive us for the ways that we have spoiled parts of the wonderful world that You made instead of caring for it. Thank you for continuing to trust us with caring for Your creation – help us to do better.
There are enough resources on our planet for everyone and everything to live well. However, some parts of the world have overused the earth’s resources and these resources haven’t been shared fairly or equally too.
Creator God, we thank You for the gifts that we find in the world that help to clothe us, feed us and shelter us. We ASK that our governments would make the right decisions to ensure that we use the world’s resources sustainably.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
Psalm 8:3-8
I look at your heavens,
which you made with your fingers.
I see the moon and stars,
which you created.
But why are people even important to you?
Why do you take care of human beings?
You made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You put them in charge of everything you made.
You put all things under their control:
all the sheep, the cattle,
and the wild anim
the fish in the sea,
and everything that lives under water.
Psalm 8:3-8 (NCV)
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Loving Father, thank You for this beautiful world that You made and shared with us. We say YES to playing our part to help everything to flourish and reach its full potential.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
Colossians 1:20
And through Christ, God has brought all things back to himself again – things on earth and things in heaven. God made peace through the blood of Christ’s death on the cross.
Colossians 1:20 (NCV)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
