Week: Creativity - David
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Creator God, who formed us from dust, breathe in us again. We’re ready for the new things that You want to show us and say to us and even create through us today.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

Psalm 63:1-3
God, you are my God. I search for you.
I thirst for you like someone in a dry, empty land where there is no water.
I have seen you in the Temple and have seen your strength and glory.
Because your love is better than life, I will praise you.

Let’s imagine what it was like for David in that desert. He was probably hot, sweaty and really, really thirsty. He probably had sand stuck between his toes, in his eyes and up his nose (which would have been pretty unpleasant!). As he looked around at the dry landscape, David realised that his relationship with God felt ‘dry’ too. And so he wrote today’s Psalm.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: Where have we been that was really, really hot?
If we were to describe our life at the moment, what kind of landscape would it be like? Do we feel like we’re in a well-watered garden? Do we feel alone in a dark cave? Do we feel like we’re on a mountain-top adventure? Do we feel dry, like we’re in a dry desert? Or do we feel like we’re somewhere else?
Father God, the Bible shows us that You meet people in all these places. We’re grateful that no matter what’s going on in our lives, no matter what we’ve said or done, You are with us.
In some parts of the world, changes in our climate are causing floods to increase and sea-levels to rise. In other parts, it’s causing deserts to expand. In all these places, it is becoming more difficult for people to grow enough food.
Loving God, we ASK You to send rain where fields need water. And we ASK You to give wisdom to government leaders around the world who make decisions that affect our climate, give them creative solutions to help those most in need.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.

And now, let’s take a big drink from our glasses of water as we say YES to God together.
Lord God, like David says in today’s Psalm, we are thirsty for more of You. As we drink our water, we receive Your Holy Spirit. We say YES to You filling our lives to overflowing.
