Week: Love (Lent)
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
As usual, we start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause

Holy Spirit, it’s You who helps us grow, each and every day, into who God made us to be. We’re ready to be changed a little bit more by You today.

We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:
Read by Eli
Psalm 89:2
I will say, ‘Your love continues forever; your loyalty goes on and on like the sky.’
Psalm 89:2 (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.

Today, we’re REFLECTING on some famous words the Apostle Paul wrote about love.
Read by Eli
1 Corinthians 13:1-2
I may speak in different languages of people or even angels. But if I do not have love, I am only a noisy bell or a crashing cymbal. I may have the gift of prophecy. I may understand all the secret things of God and have all knowledge, and I may have faith so great I can move mountains. But even with all these things, if I do not have love, then I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-2 (NCV)
Let’s imagine for a moment that we had super powers – like speaking any language in the world, or becoming invisible or having mega-strength to lift a huge truck. What good would any of these powers really be if we didn’t use them to rescue someone from trouble, or help them out?
In today’s Bible passage, Paul talks about the greatest of all super powers – LOVE – which God gives to every single person to make the world a better place. Come on, let’s use this super power!
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: How can we use our super power of love to help someone in our school or the local community?

Let’s take another deep breath, and this time, let’s imagine that it’s God’s love filling our lungs and our whole bodies too. Actually, let’s take a couple of breaths together.
In… and out.
In… and out.
Father God, fill us with Your love.
We’ve just been talking about how we can use our super power of love in our school or our local community. Let’s ASK God to help us with this.
Loving God, we ASK You to fill us with Your love, and help us to use it to make the world where we live a better place.

As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?

And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Loving God, we believe that love is more important than anything. We say YES to using our super power of love to make the world a little bit better each day.

After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
Psalm 89:2
I will say, ‘Your love continues forever; your loyalty goes on and on like the sky.’
Psalm 89:2 (NCV)

Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
