Week: Mark's Gospel
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Jesus, we hear You inviting us, and so we choose to follow You, with all our hearts, with all our minds, with all our souls and with all our strength.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

James 5:13
Anyone who is having troubles should pray. Anyone who is happy should sing praises.
James 5:13 (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Jesus had been praying in the Garden of Gethsemane with his disciples when Judas arrived with some Roman guards. Today, we’re REFLECTING on what happened next.

Mark 14:45-46
So Judas went straight to Jesus and said, ‘Teacher!’ and kissed him. Then the people grabbed Jesus and arrested him.
Mark 14:45-46 (NCV)
Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek – that’s what friends did to say hello. But this wasn’t a kiss of friendship. Judas kissed Jesus’ cheek to show the Roman guards who they should arrest. Jesus knew that one of his own disciples would give him a kiss of betrayal, and this was the moment.
Judas had been one of Jesus’ closest friends for three years. Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: How do we think Jesus felt in this moment, when He was betrayed by His friend?
Let’s be quiet and think for a moment: Have we let any of our friends down recently? Or have any of our friends let us down?
In our hearts, let’s tell God how we feel, and listen for anything that He might want to say to us about the situation.
In today’s passage, Jesus is described as a ‘teacher’. Let’s pray for the teachers that we know.
Father God, we ASK You to encourage those who teach us. We’re grateful for all that they do and give, so we ASK You to fill them with joy and help them to be patient, especially when they’re teaching us.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
Mark 14:45-46
So Judas went straight to Jesus and said, ‘Teacher!’ and kissed him. Then the people grabbed Jesus and arrested him.
Mark 14:45-46 (NCV)
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Lord Jesus, You are the best example of what it is to be a good friend. We say YES to loving and caring for our friends just like You love and care for us!
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:

James 5:13

James 5:13 (NCV)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
