Week: Creativity and Presence
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Lord God, we look forward to discovering more of Your wisdom in the Old Testament. Show us the way You want us to live, and help us to walk in it today.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

Psalm 33:6
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
Psalm 33:6 (NLT)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today, we’re REFLECTING on the story of creation, found in the very first pages of the Bible.

Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
Genesis 1:1-5 (ESVUK)
The book of Genesis describes the universe that God was creating as empty and desolate, dark and chaotic… a place without function or purpose.
But right there, in the middle of all that confusion and chaos, the Spirit of God was present – and from that place, God said ‘let there be’ something – and something happened, and when God saw it, God said that it was good.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is a bit of a science question. Light is made up of different colours: How many colours can we name that make up the light that God created? (Here’s a clue – we can see them in a rainbow.) What’s our favourite colour?
The Bible says that the God who filled the empty Universe with billions and billions of stars and planets, black holes and white dwarfs, is the same God who carefully formed us in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13).
Let’s take a few moments to let this awesome truth sink a little deeper into our souls.
Let’s think of someone we know who might feel like their life is confusing and chaotic right now.
Holy Spirit, may they know Your presence with them. Surround them, give them strength and comfort – let there be a little bit more of Your light in their lives today.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.

What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Creator God, thank You for the wisdom that we’ve heard from Your Word today. We say YES to walking the way that You want us to. And we say YES, especially, to being more aware of the wonderful universe that You created around us and for us.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s see if we can remember our memory verse and say it together:
Psalm 33:6
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
Psalm 33:6 (NLT)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
