Week: Kindness
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause

Holy Spirit, You help us grow, each and every day, into who God made us to be. We’re ready to be changed a little bit more by You today.

We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:
Read by Jackson J
Proverbs 16: 24
Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Proverbs 16:24 (NLT)
God, help us to remember Your Word.

Today, we’re REFLECTING on what Jesus says about God’s kindness.

Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without hoping to get anything back. Then you will have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High God, because he is kind even to people who are ungrateful and full of sin.
Luke 6:35 (NCV)
It’s easy to be kind to people who are kind to us. But Jesus says that His Father goes a lot further than that. God isn’t just kind to people who deserve it, to those who are good and those who are grateful. No, God is kind to everyone. God is love, God is kindness. Even when we’re ungrateful, or if we’re unkind to others, God is still kind to us.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: How is God kind to us? What different ways can we think of?

It doesn’t matter what we’ve done, or how we feel about ourselves, God is still kind to us! Let’s close our eyes for a moment and imagine the smile on God’s face as He looks at us. How about we give a smile back?
Who are we finding it really difficult to be kind to at the moment? Maybe it’s one of our friends or family, or someone at school or work? Maybe it’s someone in our church?
Lord Jesus, we ASK You to be kind to them. We really mean it – we want the best for them. And Holy Spirit, show us how we can be kind to them too, even if they are unkind to us.

As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without hoping to get anything back. Then you will have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High God, because he is kind even to people who are ungrateful and full of sin.
Luke 6:35 (NCV)
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?

And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Father God, we say YES to Your incredible kindness to us. We don’t deserve it, but we’re grateful for it, and we receive it wholeheartedly. May Your kind of kindness grow in us so that we can be kind to others too.

After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
Proverbs 16: 24
Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Proverbs 16: 24 (NLT)

Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
