Week: Me and The World
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Jesus, You came to bring peace and healing, and because of You we can now be reconciled with God, with ourselves, with other people and with the whole world. We’re ready for You to restore our relationships a little bit more today.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:
Read by Jackson J
Colossians 1:20
And through Christ, God has brought all things back to himself again – things on earth and things in heaven. God made peace through the blood of Christ’s death on the cross.
Colossians 1:20 (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today we’re reflecting on the story of creation and on the really important job that God gave to human beings.
Read by Jackson J
Genesis 1:26-28
God spoke: ‘Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature, so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.’ God created human beings; he created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: ‘Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.’
Genesis 1:26-28 (MSG)
These verses are important because they tell us what God’s original plan for creation was. When God first created the world everything was good and full of the potential to flourish. And then God made human beings – that’s us – to be His partners in caring for everything and being responsible for it. That’s a pretty big job we’ve been given!
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: If we could have any job what would it be and why?
And now, let’s ASK God to help us and others.
Creator God, we thank You for all that you have created. Help us to care for and look after the world, and everything in it, so that everything can flourish and reach the potential it was designed for.
One of the reasons our world isn’t flourishing in the way that it should is because the climate is dramatically changing, and those who are the poorest are affected the most by this.
Loving God, we pray for those most affected by the changes in our climate, and we ASK You to provide solutions to the problems that they face. Please inspire us with ways that we can change the way that we live, so that we can make a difference.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
God of the whole world, we say YES to loving and caring for all that You have so beautifully created – animals, plants, everything.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
Colossians 1:20
And through Christ, God has brought all things back to himself again – things on earth and things in heaven. God made peace through the blood of Christ’s death on the cross.
Colossians 1:20 (NCV)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
