Week: Creativity
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Creator God, who formed us from dust, breathe in us again. We’re ready for the new things that You want to show us and say to us and even create through us today.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:
Read by Kate
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIVUK)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today, we’re REFLECTING on how God created us to be awesome and wonderful.
Psalm 139:14-16
I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.
What you have done is wonderful.
I know this very well.
You saw my bones being formed
as I took shape in my mother’s body.
When I was put together there,
you saw my body as it was formed.
All the days planned for me
were written in your book
before I was one day old.
Psalm 139:14-16 (NCV)
When we scroll through Instagram and TikTok or watch videos on YouTube, it always seems to be filled with people who are prettier, smarter, more interesting or more popular than we are. It’s hard not to compare ourselves to these people, and it leaves us feeling like we’re not good enough in some way. Comparing ourselves to other people is never good for us.
God never compares us with anyone else. He sees each of us as unique, and uniquely valuable too. Today’s reading says that God made each one of us in ‘an amazing and wonderful way’. We are all awesome wonders!
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: In what ways are each of us ‘awesome wonders’? Let’s tell each other how awesome we are.
Let’s say this together – ‘I am an awesome wonder!’
And one more time – ‘I am an awesome wonder!’
Father God, thank you that this really is true.
When we read stories about Jesus in the Bible, it’s interesting that he spent a lot of his time with the people who everybody else thought weren’t important or special.
Lord Jesus, we ASK You to help us notice the people who others think aren’t important or special, and help us to make time for them, just like You did. We ASK You to remind these people – maybe through us – just how amazing they are.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
Psalm 139:14-16
I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.
What you have done is wonderful.
I know this very well.
You saw my bones being formed
as I took shape in my mother’s body.
When I was put together there,
you saw my body as it was formed.
All the days planned for me
were written in your book
before I was one day old.
Psalm 139:14-16 (NCV)
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Father God, it’s hard to not compare ourselves to others. We need Your help to resist the temptation to do it. We say YES to listening to what You say about us, and we choose to believe that what You say about us is true. And we also say YES to using our words to help those around us know how special and unique they are too.
Pause
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIVUK)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
