How to use this course
Gather the team that shapes culture. This could be your church staff team, group of trustees or elders, senior leadership team, business executive team, or another group responsible for shaping the life of your organisation.
Find a time that works for you. Work through the five sessions over several weeks, in a few concentrated sessions, or as part of a retreat. Give your team enough time to process each session before moving onto the next.
Choose someone to guide the discussion and next steps. Choose someone who can help the team engage with the discussion, notice what is emerging, and turn what you have explored into practical next steps.
Take it one session at a time. Start each session in prayer, watch the videos in order, use the accompanying discussion guide, and give your team time to reflect honestly on what you are hearing and how it connects with your context.
Tell us how it went. We’ll send a short feedback email around two months after registration so we can learn how the course is being used and what impact it is having.

Session 1: The Culture of the Table
This session introduces culture as something we intentionally cultivate. Using the picture of a family table, it explores how prayer can become part of the fabric of a church, community, family or workplace through example, education, embedding healthy rhythms and celebrating what God is doing.
Discussion questions:
How would you describe a healthy versus unhealthy culture of prayer?
What is one example of something you’ve modelled, taught, embedded and celebrated in your own church, organisation or team?
This session explores how a culture of prayer begins with the lives of those who lead. Looking at Jesus, Moses and Joshua, and Elijah and Elisha, it considers how a life of prayer is often caught, not just taught, and invites honest reflection on our own devotional lives and spiritual growth.
Discussion questions:
Who in your life modelled prayer for you? Who inspired you?
Would your family recognise your spiritual growth?
This session explores how we help others grow in prayer by inspiring the heart, informing the mind and creating opportunities to experience prayer. It considers the language and stories that shape a culture, what Scripture and church history teach us, the barriers people face, and how we can create space for prayerful encounters with grace and wisdom.
Discussion questions:
How do you create opportunities for prayer in your community?
Have you ever seen someone think that prayer wasn’t for them and then change their mind?
How have you educated people about prayer in the past year?
This session looks at how prayer becomes part of the structure and rhythms of everyday life. Drawing on the Lord’s Prayer and examples of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual rhythms, it asks what will help us keep praying with intention, consistency and persistence.
Discussion questions:
When it comes to prayer rhythms, do you find it easy to keep it up? What helps you with that?
This final session explores how celebration shapes culture. It invites us to notice the stories we tell about prayer — stories of encounter, answered prayer, persistence and unanswered prayer — and to make room for gratitude, wonder, honest lament and testimony as part of a healthy culture of prayer.
Discussion questions:
Can you share about a time when you celebrated prayer before it was answered?
How did that change things for you?
What role does talking about the ‘pain of prayer’ play in a healthy culture of prayer?
A culture of prayer does not happen by accident. After the final session, take time as a team to decide:
What practice will we continue?
What rhythm needs to be protected?
What have we learned about how prayer shapes our leadership?
