Week: Learning - Solomon
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause

Holy Spirit, You are the best teacher. As we explore the Bible and listen to You, please help us to understand more about You, and draw closer to You.

We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

John 14:26
But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.
John 14:26 (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.

Today, we’re REFLECTING on how Solomon’s wisdom affected other people.
Read by Liliwyn
1 Kings 4:32-34
During his life [Solomon] spoke three thousand wise sayings and also wrote one thousand five songs. He taught about many kinds of plants – everything from the great cedar trees of Lebanon to the weeds that grow out of the walls. He also taught about animals, birds, crawling things, and fish. People from all nations came to listen to King Solomon’s wisdom. The kings of all nations sent them to him, because they had heard of Solomon’s wisdom.
1 Kings 4:32-34 (NCV)
It’s often the loudest voices that get our attention. That doesn’t always mean that the loudest people are the best people to listen to, or that doing what they say is the right thing.
Solomon got people’s attention because he was wise – people came from far and wide to listen to him and to ask for his help. He was someone that would have been a good and helpful person to listen to.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: Solomon was wise about lots of different things. Who do we know that is wise about something?

And now, we ASK God to help us and others…
Father God, we ASK You to help us listen to, and learn from the wise people around us. Help us to choose who to listen to wisely.
Let’s think of the people who have taught us things. Maybe a teacher at school or someone at home. Maybe a sports coach or a leader who has helped us understand the Bible.
Loving God, we thank You for the people in each of our lives who have helped us learn. We ASK You to bless them and continue to give them wisdom as they help us and others.

As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.

What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?

And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Father God, we say YES to listening to those who are wise. We want to grow in learning and wisdom to help others, like Solomon did.

After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
John 14:26
But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.
John 14:26 (NCV)

Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
