Week: Learning - learning in every way
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Holy Spirit, You are the best teacher. As we explore the Bible and listen to You, please help us to understand more about You, and draw closer to You.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

Colossians 2:6-7a
As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so continue to live in him. Keep your roots deep in him and have your lives built on him.
Colossians 2:6-7a (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today we’re continuing to REFLECT on Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi. In it, Paul prayed for them to learn more about how to follow Jesus and live well.

Philippians 1:9a-10
This is my prayer for you… that you will see the difference between good and bad and will choose the good; that you will be pure and without wrong for the coming of Christ.
Philippians 1:9a,10 (NCV)
Most of the time, it’s easy to tell the difference between right and wrong, between good and bad, but sometimes it’s not. For example, is it right – is it good – to tell our friends a lie if telling them the truth would hurt their feelings?
Paul understood that telling the difference between right and wrong, between good and bad, was sometimes difficult, and that’s why he prayed for the Philippians – he prayed for God to help them. And we need God’s help sometimes too.
The good news is that one of the reasons God sent his Holy Spirit was to guide us (John 16:13, NCV), to show us the right way to live and how to make good choices.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: Can we think of a time when we made a wrong choice or a bad choice and something funny happened? Maybe we went through a wrong doorway, or chose the wrong food, or something else?
And now, let’s ASK God to help us and others.
Holy Spirit, You are the Spirit of Truth. We ASK You to guide us each day – show us the difference between what is right and wrong, between good and bad. And help us to always choose to do the right things, the good things.
Lies and ‘fake news’ can travel very quickly, amongst our friends at school, our colleagues at work, even on social media. And most of the time, someone gets hurt when they do.
Holy Spirit, we pray for more truth and less lies. We ASK You to help us to spot lies and ‘fake news’ and give us courage to try and stop them spreading wherever we can.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.

What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Loving God, we say YES to learning to see the difference between what is right and wrong, between what is good and bad. We welcome You as our guide, Holy Spirit.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:

Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
