Punk Monk: New Book from 24-7 Titles and Regal Books

7 years in the thinking, 3 years in the making and possibly a whole lifetime in the outworking: Punk Monk (written by Andy Freeman and Pete Greig) is the new book from 24-7 Titles and Regal Books.

The book tells the story of our first Boiler Room in Reading, Engliand and how similar monastic communities across the globe have developed. In many ways, it follows on from where Red Moon Rising left off.  In Punk Monk, Andy and Pete go into the details of what a Boiler Room is, how it works and give an in-depth account of  each of the six practices of Boiler Rooms.  For anyone interested in starting or developing Boiler Room communities, this book is sure to be a valuable resource.

Punk Monk is also about following Jesus.  Just as the first monks walked away from compromise to follow Christ wholeheartedly, Punk Monk issues a call for a new monasticism amongst radical followers of Jesus made manifest in our lives and in our communities.

Andy Freeman explains: “The book ends with a challenge to live out an honest, committed and disruptive discipleship, renewing Bonhoeffer’s call for a new monasticism, which bases itself solely around Jesus and lives visibly in the world.  Whether Boiler Rooms interest people or not, I hope that call will hit home.”
