Urgent Prayer Request for Chinese Leader

Our friends at Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) have written with disturbing news of the arrest of one of the most prominent Protestant house church leaders in China where the Government persecute many  for their faith. Pastor Zhang Rongliang, 53, who leads 10 million Christians there (!!), was arrested on Wednesday 1 December in Xuzhai village, in Zhengzhou in Henan Province. This pastor is a friend of Brother Yun, the Chinese church leader known as "the Heavenly Man", who spoke at our UK gathering this year.

CSW are are deeply concerned for his welfare and safety, especially as he suffers from severe diabetes and may be unable to withstand the mistreatment that can be expected at this time. 

They say: "We would be very grateful if you would pray for him, his family and the church at this time and if you would contact the Chinese authorities as a matter of urgency to raise concern about him. 

Pastor Zhang is the leader of the China for Christ Church, which is estimated to have about 10 million members, and is also the leader of the Fangcheng Mother Church. He is featured in the book 'The Heavenly Man', to which he writes a Foreword.

He has been wanted for many years and has already spent 12 years in prison for his faith, during 5 separate detentions. There is concern he may be less able to withstand such conditions in his current state of health."
