Chris Bea
With Chris and Bea
Welcome to Lectio for Families. We are continuing with our ‘Jesus’ series, and this week we are exploring what the Bible said about Jesus before He was even born!

Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.

Pause

We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.

Pause

Prayer of Welcome

Jesus, as we spend these few minutes together, we open our eyes to see what You’re doing, our ears to hear what You’re saying, and our hearts to receive what You want to give to us today.

Rejoice

Memory Verse

We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

God, help us to remember Your Word.

Reflect

Bible Reading

Today, we’re REFLECTING on an amazing vision that the prophet, Daniel, had of Jesus.

Read by Bea
Daniel 7:13-14
[Daniel said] ‘In my vision at night I saw in front of me someone who looked like a human being coming on the clouds in the sky. He came near God, who has been alive forever, and he was led to God. He was given authority, glory, and the strength of a king. People of every tribe, nation, and language will serve him. His rule will last forever, and his kingdom will never be destroyed.’
Daniel 7:13-14 (NCV)

In Daniel’s vision, he saw a human being – Jesus – who had been alive forever and whose kingdom would grow to include people of every tribe, every nation and even every language. None of the things that we have seen or heard about Jesus in the Bible will pass away – they will last forever. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Let’s press pause and imagine what it’s going to be like to live forever with Jesus: What will be the top three things on our to-do list?

Ask

ASK Prayers

And now, let’s ASK God to help us and others.

Loving God, You gave Daniel his vision about Jesus while he was asleep. We ASK to be with us as we sleep, and we ASK You to give us dreams and visions about Jesus too.

  • OPTIONAL: PAUSE the audio player now and pray

In Daniel’s vision he saw people from every tribal group, every country, and he heard people speaking every language. When we think about the world, is there a group of people, or a nation, or even a language that we are particularly interested in? Perhaps God has put them on our hearts? Let’s spend a few moments listening to what God might want to say to us about this now.

  • OPTIONAL: PAUSE the audio player now and pray

Yes

Bible Reading

As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.

Daniel 7:13-14
[Daniel said] ‘In my vision at night I saw in front of me someone who looked like a human being coming on the clouds in the sky. He came near God, who has been alive forever, and he was led to God. What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?

YES Prayer

And now, let’s say YES to God together.

Lord Jesus, thank you that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. We say YES to being filled with hope and joy as we continue to discover more about You.

Memory Verse

After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:

Closing Prayer

Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.

Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.

Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
