Week: Global Week of Prayer
As always, each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
Let’s start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Our Father in heaven, reveal who you are. Set the world right. May your kingdom come and what you want be done in us and in our nation today. (Matthew 6:9-10, MSG & NCV)
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

1 John 5:14
And this is the boldness we have in God’s presence: that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what he wants, he hears us.
1 John 5:14 (NCV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today, we’re REFLECTING on a well-known Bible promise about God’s power to heal a whole nation.

2 Chronicles 7:12a,14
Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, ‘I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself… If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, if they will pray and seek me and stop their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.’
2 Chronicles 7:12a,14 (NCV)
When we see stories on social media or on the news about wars and famines and environmental disasters happening around the world, we often feel overwhelmed. What difference can our prayers possibly make?
But the promise that God gives to Solomon, and to us, is that our action and our prayers do make a difference. If we humble ourselves and recognise that we need God’s help, and if we ask God to put things right in the world, God promises to ‘hear from heaven’ and ‘heal the nations’.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: What have we seen on social media or on the news recently that we felt sad or even angry about?
In today’s Bible verses, God says that we need to humble ourselves and ask for His help. So let’s be quiet for a moment and invite the Holy Spirit to speak with us.
If anything comes into our minds, let’s quietly whisper our own prayers to God, remembering that God promises to forgive us and be with us.
Now, let’s return to what we’ve seen on social media or in the news recently that we felt sad or angry about.
Loving God, we know you are listening to our prayers right now, and we know that You care even more than we do about the people in these situations. We ASK that Your kingdom would come and what You want would be done in these situations.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Lord Jesus, teach us how to pray for the big things that we see happening around the world. You know what’s best for everyone, and so we say YES, Lord, may Your kingdom come and what You want be done, in us and in every nation.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s say our memory verse together:
1 John 5:14
And this is the boldness we have in God’s presence: that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what he wants, he hears us.
1 John 5:14 (NCV)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
