Week: Creativity and Presence
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Lord God, we look forward to discovering more of Your wisdom in the Old Testament. Show us the way You want us to live, and help us to walk in it today.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:
Read by Asaph
Psalm 33:6
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
Psalm 33:6 (NLT)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today we’re continuing to REFLECT on the story we read yesterday about the man named Bezalel who was filled with the Holy Spirit to create wonderful things.
Read by Asaph
Exodus 35:34-35
And [the Spirit] also made him a teacher, he and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. He’s gifted them with the know-how needed for carving, designing, weaving, and embroidering in blue, purple, and scarlet fabrics, and in fine linen. They can make anything and design anything.
Exodus 35:34-35 (MSG)
Bezalel and his friend Oholiab were equipped and empowered by the Spirit of God to be teachers – to pass their knowledge of how to make beautiful things onto others. They could have designed and made everything themselves, but by teaching other people, it meant that many more beautiful things were designed and created.
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: If we were a teacher, what would we like to teach other people about?
And now, we ASK God to help us and others.
Creator God, thank You that You gave us minds so that we are able to learn new skills. We ASK You to fill us with Your Spirit so that we can learn to design and make beautiful, new things.
There are so many teachers in the world who help others to learn and grow. Let’s take a moment to think about some of the people who have taught us.
Father God, we think about the incredible people who have passed on their skills, wisdom, and joy about something on to us. We ASK You to strengthen them to teach and fill them with fresh creativity.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
Exodus 35:34-35
And he’s also made him a teacher, he and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. He’s gifted them with the know-how needed for carving, designing, weaving, and embroidering in blue, purple, and scarlet fabrics, and in fine linen. They can make anything and design anything.
Exodus 35:34-35 (MSG)
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Loving God, thank You for the wisdom that we’ve heard from Your Word today. We say YES to walking the way that You want us to. We also say YES to learning from You, and YES to passing on the things that we’ve learned on to others.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s see if we can remember our memory verse and say it together:
Psalm 33:6
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
Psalm 33:6 (NLT)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
