Week: Holy Spirit Adventures - the Book of Acts
Each day we will simply pray (P.R.A.Y.) together.
P: PAUSING to be still.
R: REJOICING with a Memory Verse and REFLECTING on some verses from the Bible.
A: ASKING God to help us and others.
Y: saying YES to God’s ways.
We start by pausing and taking a deep breath:
In and out.
In and out.
We remember that God is here, and so together we prepare ourselves to be with God.
Pause
Holy Spirit, like the disciples in the upper room on the day of Pentecost, we’re patiently waiting for You to fill us with Your power and with Your presence. We’re ready for You to send us on new adventures.
We REJOICE and celebrate God’s goodness with this week’s memory verse:

Micah 3:8
But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord.
Micah 3:8 (NIV)
God, help us to remember Your Word.
Today we’re REFLECTING on what happened after Peter and John met with the court leaders. They went back to the other believers to discuss what had happened, and then they prayed together.

Acts 4:29-31
[The believers prayed] ‘Lord, help us, your servants, to speak your word without fear. Show us your power to heal. Give proofs and make miracles happen by the power of Jesus, your holy servant.’ After they had prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke God’s word without fear.
Acts 4:29-31 (NCV)
Wow! Jesus’ disciples had experienced the power of the Holy Spirit working miracles through them, and they wanted more, and so they prayed… and the whole room shook! Imagine what they must’ve felt in that moment. Maybe they felt a little bit frightened, but they probably also felt full of confidence because they knew that God was with them, and God could do impossible things through them!
Let’s press pause and talk about today’s question, which is: What’s happened recently, either to us or someone we know, that was exciting? What good news have we had?
And now, let’s ASK God to help us as we pray the same prayer that Peter and John prayed.
Lord God, help us, Your servants, to speak about you without fear. Show us Your power to heal. Make miracles happen by the power of Jesus.
Throughout the book of Acts, we read that people tried to stop the believers from telling people about Jesus, sometimes with words and sometimes with cruelty and violence. Jesus warned them that this would happen, and he told them what to do; ‘But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!’ (Matthew 5:44, NIV)
Father God, we know that You make the sun shine on those who know You and those who don’t. Even though it hurts You to see people doing and saying things against You, we ASK that You will help those people to experience Your love so that their hearts are changed.
As we read the Bible again, let’s listen for a word or a phrase that the Holy Spirit might want to say to us from today’s verses.
What word or phrase stood out from today’s Bible verses?
And now, let’s say YES to God together.
Holy Spirit, we say YES to going on adventures with You. We say YES we want to see miracles happen in our lives, and so we invite Your Holy Spirit to move in power.
After enjoying this time with God and each other, let’s see if we can remember our memory verse and say it together:
Micah 3:8
But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord.
Micah 3:8 (NIV)
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.
Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.
Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
