How to fill all your 24-7 Prayer Room slots

A beginner’s guide to getting your community excited to pray non-stop

If you’ve signed up for the Global Week of Prayer but need some help mobilising your community to pray, don’t worry! Here are our top tips:

1. Communicate the Vision

Use your Sunday or mid-week gathering to promote your prayer room – sharing why you’re praying and inviting people to join in when you’re together creates excitement and anticipation.

We’ve put together a Global Week of Prayer promo pack with talking points to use, and a promo video you can share.

It’s also helpful to follow up with what you share in-person – use email lists, WhatsApp groups, and social media to remind your community to sign up and get involved.

Remember to include a link to sign up for a prayer slot when you talk about your prayer room!

2. Give people the practical details

It might sound obvious, but make sure you tell everyone where and when your prayer room is!

If there’s a specific way to get into the prayer room or if it might be hard to find, communicate that to your community ahead of time so that they don’t get confused.

3. Make it easy for people to sign up

When you registered your Global Week of Prayer Room, you’ll have received a sign up tool link which makes it really easy to sign up. So, make the link really easy to access for your community!

Try using a QR code in your Sunday gatherings, or share a direct link in a WhatsApp group, email, or social media content.

Alternatively, you might find it works better to create a timetable on a big piece of paper for people to fill in when you meet together.

4.  Invite existing community groups to get involved

If there are regular groups meeting in your community that usually do an activity or small group together, invite them to swap their usual activity for an hour of prayer.

It can be a great way for anyone who’s a bit worried about spending time on their own praying to try 24-7 Prayer, and it can also mobilise groups to hear what God’s saying together.

5.  Don’t worry if all the hours of prayer aren’t full at the start of the week!

Continue to share the vision and link to sign up; you might find that people have such a good time in their slot that they want to sign up again!

It can work well to ‘auction’ empty slots in a community meeting or WhatsApp group – but remember not to pressure people into praying! Encourage and inspire them to get involved.
