Justice in Kenya

On Friday, July 1st, the deaths of IJM staff member Willie Kimani, IJM client, Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver, Joseph Muiruri were announced The group went missing on Thursday, June 23, as they were returning to their homes following a court hearing.  Their bodies were found northeast of Nairobi, after an extensive search led by Kenyan police and IJM staff.

IJM exists to protect the poor from violence, and Willie's life was taken while courageously pursuing that mission. IJM will continue to fight for justice in Kenya until the police in Kenya protect the people of Kenya.

Father we pray for the families and colleagues of Willie, Josephat and Joseph, that they would know your peace, love and comfort at this time. We pray for wisdom in working with the authorities, strong resolve by the police units supporting IJM and that all guilty or complicit in these crimes would be held accountable. Lord, let your kingdom of justice come in Kenya so that all Kenyan citizens would no longer need to fear from the police, but know they will be protected by them.
