Rescuing Thousands from Slavery
Earlier this year, IJM staff and police together rescued 564 children, women and men from slavery to a brick kiln in India. But more people are still waiting to be rescued. It is only by continuing in this fight together that we can see an end to slavery - for good.
IJM is determined to see every child and family in slavery today, both free and safe. By partnering with local police, IJM works to find and identify individuals trapped in places such as brick kilns, rose farms and on fishing boats, and conducts rescue operations to bring them to safety.
Each rescue operation needs to be carefully planned and investigated, with critical evidence gathered, not only to ensure the rescues are successful, but to build strong legal cases against the slave owners.
This work isn’t cheap - one rescue operation costs over £4,000 - but each one can free dozens or hundreds of slaves.
Father, you know every life trapped in slavery; would they know your comfort and your love. We pray for IJM’s investigators and the rescue teams and ask that you protect and guide them as they step into some of the world’s darkest places. We pray that they will find those in need of rescue today and thousands more will be set free.
