Healing Victims of Rape

Saffi and her family were running for their lives from the M23 rebels in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Saffi picks up the story:

“I was six months pregnant and we soon began to run out of food.  My husband suggested that I go back home to collect some supplies - he knew he’d be killed if caught by the rebels. Arriving at my house I immediately knew that I was in trouble, I discovered several rebel soldiers had moved in. I couldn’t escape and I was raped violently.

“After that I had complications with the baby and he died inside of me - I had to give birth to a dead baby. When I finally managed to find my husband again he rejected me and asked for a divorce - I’d been used, and it was my fault.”

Saffi was one of 50 victims of rape who participated in one of our specialist conferences in Goma. Her response to the teaching and ministry was extraordinary, and she found healing and wholeness in Jesus. Now she stands tall and is committed to helping others.

Pray

"Thank you for the DRC – for its beauty and its people. Have mercy on us God, the world’s hands are not clean in the DRC. Bring your justice to this nation – your wholeness to victims of sexual violence, children born from abuse. Would you restore, heal and bring forgiveness to this land; rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated!"

Get more involved

1) JOIN ONE OF OUR OVERSEAS PROJECT TEAMS - We tend to go to areas where the Foreign Office advises against essential travel and carry out short-term projects of 10-21 days at a time. We ask people to take part in teaching, prayer ministry, devotionals, sharing testimonies and get alongside some of the poorest people in the world. You will bring hope to traumatized people as well as having a life changing experience.

2) PRAY FOR US – as we travel and minister in the power of the Holy Spirit to the traumatized.

3) DONATE - Become a friend by joining the Flame 1000 Club where we are looking for 1000 people to give £10 a month or more on a regular basis.

The Flame International vision is to see people set free from the trauma of war, terror or oppression – releasing God’s healing, forgiveness and reconciliation.  We work mainly within Africa at the request of, and in partnership with, the national and local church and we are now being invited to extend the work in Africa and expand into Europe and Asia.
