As part of this team you'll have the opportunity to join with a time of non-stop 24-7 Prayer before serving festival-goers on an island off the coast of Iceland.

There will be day teams and night teams, reaching out and serving in practical ways; from giving cups of coffee to helping people safely return to their tents.

If you're passionate about practically loving people, building relationships and bringing light to dark places; this team is for you!

What to expect

The Westmann Islands, off the coast of Iceland, are home to a very significant festival and for several years, 24-7 Prayer have joined the party...

In the summer, the usual population of 4000 rises to 16,000 for one weekend: Þjóhátíð. Now described as a ‘Viking Party Valhalla’, Iceland’s first Þjóhátíð was in 1874. It’s an annual celebration of Icelandic national identity that began over 100 years ago.

This camping festival begins with 'hook-up' ball on Thursday; people find someone to hook up with for the weekend. Friday evening’s highlight is an enormous bonfire. The party gets into full swing on Saturday as music, DJs and dancing vibrate through the night until early morning with a spectacular firework display when it’s dark enough. Sunday is like a campfire sing-a-long with Icelandic ballads. The festival finale sees thousands of torch bearing revellers gather round the rim of the volcano to recreate Eldfell’s famous lava eruption.

The team will be starting the time with a week of prayer before the main event, then attend the festival as we seek to bring the presence of God into the celebrations.

As the team continues to pray and worship at the festival, they will offer coffee and conversation, taking the opportunity to share Jesus and pray with people whenever appropriate.

PRAY – mission teams contain a strong element of focused prayer, which all team members will participate in. This is often 24-7.

PLAY – mission teams will celebrate the culture that they’re in, together, and what God is already doing within it. This could take the form of communal meals, activities or experiences.

OBEY – mission teams contain an element of sacrificial mission and outreach, serving local people in that place.

Our Mission Teams are an incredible and unique opportunity to serve in a local 24-7 Prayer community, and we're so excited to see what God will do through your trip!
