A recent survey* has found, that in the UK 45% – 49% of people under 34 prayed in July, and in August this figure rose to 55%. Another question revealed that more than half of young people aged 18-34 were engaging in online worship.
Within Great Britain we have recorded 1032 Prayer Rooms signed up this year. It is astonishing to see the ignition for prayer God has sparked, as he remains the light in the darkness of loss, isolation and uncertainty.
This is also the case across 24-7 Internationally, where there has been a rise in prayer in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic (You can read more in this blog - A World Falling to its Knees?)
These are encouraging figures and as the church we need to be encouraging and discipling those who have questions about faith and prayer.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 17:20 that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can trust in the one who will make that seed grow.
Pause for a moment and pray for those in your community who are praying for the first time. That their faith would be multiplied, and that they would experience the presence of God in their lives.
Pray for the young people of our generation that they would be strong in their faith and a light to those exploring it, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1Timothy 4:12.
