YOU DID IT FOR ME: When God interrupts us on the way to the prayer room - 26 Feb 2020

‘Listening to Lectio 365, I was reminded of Mother Theresa pointing to her five fingers when being asked why she served the poor and saying - You Did It For Me.

Lectio 365 is written by leaders from the 24-7 Prayer movement, and produced in partnership with CWR, this resource helps you engage with Scripture to inspire prayer and shape your life.

Running late for a prayer room meeting and dashing through the town centre of Keighley. I was almost there when a homeless woman tried to grab my attention - Can you help me? She said. There was no ignoring this. It was the voice of Jesus.

I took her to the doorway of the new prayer room and asked her to wait outside as the new church office was just moving in. I dumped all my stuff in the room, and told the others waiting I needed to go and feed someone and- so they should just start praying!

After talking to her and offering to take her to Greggs, she told me she was banned from the town centre and was constantly looking over her shoulder. I told her that she was loved and precious by God and he never gives up on us. I asked her if I could pray with her. She told me her name was THERESA!

Oh my word, it was like God was shouting out loud to me, not being subtle! She happily allowed me to pray. Praise God. I trust him for all that he's doing in her life and for that awesome opportunity. I went back to our shack of a prayer room, and we continued to pray for Theresa.

Reflecting on this and the scripture passage Matthew 25, I knew our prayer room had to be missional and felt a call as I’ve always felt to compassion outreach.’
