Kahaila is a small community of people who are invested in bringing the good news to the people of EastLondon. Our community is based in three different locations: in our cafes in Brick Lane and Aldgate, and in Forest Gate. Through the week we have various ways in which we create community–particularly through our small groups, our Wednesday evening gatherings in the café, our prayer and worship nights and our Sunday Family Services. We live out our values of generosity, serving, faith, community and belonging in everything we do as we seek to make a difference to our local community with God’s guidance.
Kahaila was born out of a vision to create innovative ways of doing church, of trying to reach those who were not being reached by traditional models of church. We recognised that many people would connect over coffee and so established our first café on BrickLane in 2012 to be the centre of our church community. Over the years we have grown to include a couple of cafes and have established four separate charitable projects to impact our local communities. We seek to be a place where all can belong regardless of what they believe, a generous space where we put others before ourselves and serve one another. We seek to live by faith, trusting in God to guide us to achieve God’s will in our local community.
