This summer, for the first time, we sent a team to East Asia, to pray and serve in an incredible multi-cultural context. One of the community based there full-time shares what happened:
“It’s going to be easy,” we told the team, in our kind-of-grotty-ex-karaoke-bar-now-prayer-room as we welcomed them and began to share the plans for our time together.
We like a simple plan, so we explained that we would pray together, before going as family to see God bless the people we would meet in extraordinary ways.
After spending some time planning, we set up a prayer room for 3 days of 24-7 Prayer; a time of personal and country focused intercession.
These were wonderful days of blessing, building and impartation that enabled us to leave the comfort of western style toilets and nice showers, and head to some of the most remote villages and towns in the world.
“When you said it was going to be easy, I didn't think you meant that easy!” - was the response after one of our first days in the mountains.
It had been a day filled with crazy driving, being invited into a holy man’s shrine room and fed tea, peanuts and some sort of weird incense stuff.
And then came the real highlight.
We were going for a stroll and found a three-generation family picnic. After some time chatting and playing with the kids, we asked if we could pray for them.
We got to see two of the older generation healed from back and knee pain. Part of our family (who didn't yet know they were family), moved to tears at their encounter with the Father.
Because when you spend time in prayer and then go out as a joy-filled family with the expectation that God is going to move - you see crowds gather wanting you to lay hands and pray for them. Even, in our case, if they pray at another god’s temple.
It really is easy!
Every summer, 24-7 Prayer sends mission teams to serve alongside communities who are living out prayer, mission and justice. 2019 mission team details will be released soon.
