Across our globe, on a daily basis, situations unravel that will have a profound impact on millions of people...
As Christians, prayer is always the most powerful way we can respond.
In praise or fear, in prayer we get to partner with God, creator of the universe. Yet sometimes, it’s difficult to know how to start to pray.
So here are 5 simple ways to pray for a nation…
1. Acknowledge God’s power
As humans, we can forget that ultimately, God has created the world and is not absent from it but all-powerful.
“The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The World, and all who live in it.”
- Psalm 34
2. Pray for God’s kingdom to come
The simplest prayer can be the most powerful.
“Your Kingdom Come
Your Will be done
On Earth as in Heaven”
3. Pray for those who are impacted
Uncertainty can cause fear, worry and doubt. Pray for those who are directly impacted.
4. Pray for those in power
Leaders across our world are humans, just like us, who need prayer especially when difficulty or uncertainty comes.
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people; for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way”
- 1 Tim 2:1-3
5. Pray for the Church to continue to bring hope
In the middle of elections, votes, humanitarian crises, we as the global Church still have a message of hope that we can share far and wide.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
- 2 Cor 4:16-18
