Vision Course

Vision Course Tulsa is a nine-month season of intentional discipleship, training, and equipping, facilitated by a close-knit team of brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers from the Believers Church community.

This will take place in a communal living context: students will be living, working, learning and growing together. This context is a key element of the Vision Course, as this type of community living provides a sort of “laboratory in between classrooms,” where students practice applying all that they are learning to every day life and relationships.

The course will be rooted in the weekly life-rhythms of the broader Believers Church family, providing the proper structure for Biblical discipleship; the day-to-day life of the local church.

Prayer

Prayer will be given first priority as the center of everything that takes place in the Vision Course. All other aspects of the course will orbit around our rhythms of prayer, worship and devotional fellowship, as we seek to know and encounter God face to face, both corporately and personally.

Learning and Training

Intentional learning, training and equipping will be carried out through group class times, personal study, and individual mentoring. We will study and meditate on the Word of God, immerse ourselves in the Gospel of the Kingdom, learn to be people of the Spirit, and become lifelong learners and storytellers in the process.

There are nine key questions which the Vision Course curriculum is built around:

  • Who is God? – Theology/God Story
  • What has He done? – Gospel & Kingdom
  • How do I know Him? – Relational Spirituality/Prayer
  • Who am I? – Identity & Value
  • Who are we to one another? – Kingdom Family/Church
  • How do we relate to the world? – Worldview/Participation
  • What are we to do? – Vocation/Mission
  • What’s been done before? – Historical Clarity
  • How do we prepare for this? – Leadership & Personal Development

Our plan is to address these questions in creative ways from many different angles in hopes of producing thoughtful, intentional, passionate disciples of Jesus Christ.

Outreach and Mission

One of the primary practical outflows of of all of this will be outreach and mission, both locally on a weekly basis and on an international scale as well. Locally, we will spend time every week working with and serving the poor and the homeless in downtown Tulsa, as well as reaching out and ministering to the weekend party/club/bar scene in the same area. Students will also pioneer a unique local missional expression together during the course. At the end of the year the students will have the opportunity to travel overseas on a missions endeavor together.

The final phase of the Vision Course will be focused on helping each student to determine through personal prayer and corporate discernment what the next phase of their journey will be. Whether they end up going (back) to school, beginning a professional career, or continuing down the road of further leadership development and ministry training, our hope is that they will each be launched out and sent with a sense of vision and direction from the Lord into the next phase of the life they have been called and destined to live, and equipped with the tools and relationships needed to do it well.
