UK: Brighton Boiler Room launched!

Prayer for the Brighton team
In an evening of vision, prayer, and celebration, the Brighton Boiler Room was launched Saturday, 29 October at St. Luke's Church in Brighton.
 
The Boiler Room team, its volunteers, and many from the larger 24-7 UK community gathered to celebrate the launch.
 
The Brighton Boiler Room has existed as a YWAM community for some time. As a rhythm of prayer, mission and justice has developed, the team was compelled to formally launch the community as a 24-7 Boiler Room.
 
After a time of worship, Dennis Bracken (Brighton team leader) shared his vision for the community and how it can impact the people of Brighton. The team, who are passionate about impacting Brighton's the vibrant arts community, partner with a number of social justice projects and local schools in the area. They also host a training course called ‘The Fourth Wall’.

The Brighton base now hosts daily liturgical prayer and worship and is a mission base for outreach into Brighton’s clubs and bars and especially into the arts scene.
 
Andy Freeman, 24-7's International Boiler Room Director, led the group in prayer for the Brighton team. As the team received prayer, numerous attendees washed their feet in an act of service, dedication and honour. 
 
Andy also shared about the purpose of Boiler Rooms and the impact that Christ-centered community can have on the world.
 
"It's no coincidence that this Boiler Room has small beginnings," Andy said. "Jesus says that we only need faith the size of a mustard seed to move a mountain. I believe that's exactly what He wants to do through you guys."

THE VISION : why a boiler room?

In the great days of steam, boiler rooms were the energy source. They were functional, dirty and hot. They were places of essential work and were tucked away in the basement. They were not places of entertainment or comfort. So, that's how the name came about. A boiler room is a place to get down to the "nitty gritty" of community transformation.

The vision is to be a Christ-centered community dedicated to living lives of holiness, integrity, prayer, creativity, mission and discipleship.

This is accomplished this through:
·    Creative Evangelism: By worshipping God in places He isn't worshiped through music and the creative arts; being salt and light in the pub and club culture of Brighton.
·    Prayer: "These I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations." Isaiah 56:7
·    Hospitality: By providing a place where anyone can come and escape the craziness of the world for awhile; a place where people can come and meet with God and crawl into His lap.
·    Justice: By partnering with local ministries and initiatives in Brighton and Hove, we seek to help right the wrongs in our society.
·    Discipleship Training: Fulfilling the Great Commission by "kicking down the Fourth Wall."
