Whakatane New Zealand: Awesome week of 24-7 prayer

Published: October 6th, 2006

"The response to our prayer room is simply awesome!
The presence of God in the room is tangible."

Dianna Sullivan helped set up a prayer room at her church in September. This is her story (BTW, if you're wondering where in the world Whakatane is, we've provided a map of New Zealand - see right!)

September 24th  - First prayer slot

"I've never really prayed on my own for a concentrated time; I usually pray several random prayers throughout the day. But this was easy! I'd sourced all sorts of creative ways to pray on the internet - spoken, written, drawn and sung. My prayer slot was for 2 hours and the time flew! I came out refreshed and eager to go back again."

September 26th – Youth Group hooked on prayer

"I’m simply stunned by how well this week is going!! All the prayer slots have been filled so far, although there are still some more slots to be filled on Friday and Saturday. The Youth group were meant to do 15 min slots tonight, but we found them praying for up to an hour. "

September 29th - Final Hours

"It's just wonderful to see the creative ways that we can pray. We're so looking forward to doing this again! Although the prayer room was supposed to finish tomorrow, we're leaving it for another week for other people to come and see what’s been happening.

"Two of the girls in the youth group were so inspired to pray that they didn't want to leave, and stayed for an extra slot! I've noticed that they have their names down for the final hour of the week."

"We're not fanatics praying, but ordinary everyday people who want more from God for themselves and their community."

We want to hear your 24-7 prayer stories and testimonies! Please get in touch, so we can share what God's doing in your community.
