Camp America: a Report from the 24-7 USA Gathering

Published: June 11th, 2008

This past weekend, 150 adults plus many children gathered near Kansas City in the USA from the four corners of our nation.” Writes Wendy Andrews from 24-7 Prayer USA.  “They represented Boiler Rooms, campuses, and churches – and it was an unbelievable time!  We had very little prepared in terms of content, and we knew it was because of a plan from God for a divine hijacking.  Indeed, He came so powerfully – from moment one, the gathering felt safe and free and there were many Holy Spirit moments and lots of personal ministry given and received.

Our main sessions (3 of them) followed each of the 3 values of the 24-7 Prayer movement – Loving God, Loving Each Other, and Loving the World – and God really encouraged us and powerfully ministered through each!

We commissioned three Boiler Room communities in Madison, Minneapolis, and Grand Rapids.  So much life and beauty in these guys!  We commissioned the Campus America leadership team as well, and we blessed and sent the 5 Transit guys and girls (who did the tri-locational version) off on their merry way.  I believe that God used our time to build genuine family, momentum within this movement across our nation, and to call people to specific dreams of His for their lives.  Here are a few comments from those who gathered:

“i can't tell you exactly how much it blessed me…. looking around and seeing the next generation in absolute love with my Lord and Savior Jesus - what can be said - maybe the tears i shed in joy and my rise in faith about the church of the future helps explain it a bit.”
Pastor from Jefferson City, MO

“I personally was refreshed, envisioned and encouraged by the whole weekend.”
A 35-year old ministry leader with SVM2, a student mobilization network

“i got back from 24-7 Prayer Gathering and my life has not been the same. God planted a seed in my heart for a City and a Campus.”
A student who’s just graduated from a school in Indiana

There was a sense that this gathering was a new beginning to the 24-7 Prayer USA movement – the first time we’ve gathered from the corners of the nation face-to-face, and these people are being freed & empowered to embrace and walk in their dreams.

Wendy Andrews is a Wisconsin native who migrated south to Kansas City in 2005. She worked with 24-7 Prayer USA for five years, helping to build the U.S. team and resource base as well as connecting university students through the Campus America initiative. Now, in addition to being part of the Kansas City Boiler Room's core leadership team, she's turned a good bit of her focus to encouraging the fires of prayer across Asia, where she spends nearly a third of her time each year. As a matter of priority, Wendy spends regular time resting, running, drinking PG Tips, cooking large vegetable-full meals for friends and laughing.
