Sharing Jesus in an Muslim Nation: A Story from North Africa

Published: May 1st, 2008

A young missionary in a Muslim Nation in North Africa is risking it all to share the Gospel of Jesus.  Here is her latest encouraging report…

“Since moving to this area a few weeks ago, I really felt moved to pray for the students in the city.  I  have had them on my heart and last week God orchestrated some great encounters with new people.

My area seems like a student hot spot: not just for those studying at University, but for high school students as well.  Yesterday, a friend of mine asked if I wanted to come to school with her.  It took me all of two seconds to accept, “Yes!”  She told me that the teacher asked her to bring me and that they would be extremely happy to have me in their English class

The school was very interesting.  The teacher invited me to teach the class which was kind of daunting.  Apart from an unfortunate incident with a collapsing desk the lesson went really well, I grew more confident as I shared. Little by little we got into different subjects, one of which was religion.  It was incredible! I was able to share the gospel with the whole class!  They seemed to really listen and want to ask questions.  They’ve asked me to come back and next time they will open up a longer discussion on religion.

This is truly incredible.  In a nation where any Muslim who converts to Islam faces persecution I have been invited to teach a class about why I love and live for Jesus Christ!  The school has opened up new friendships and opportunities.  I’m still praying and relying on God to guide each step.”
