Intercessors Called to Un-Churched Ugandan Island

Published: March 10th, 2008

Ugandan Christians, called by God in a Prayer Room, see 50 people saved and plant a church on an unreached island with over 90% HIV/AIDS infection. Read this incredible story of faith and action...

“Praise the Lord.  Thank you for 24-7 Prayer.  It works and has worked for us.”  Writes Paul Masindende from Victory Kings Ministries, Uganda.  “In our prayers the Lord revealed to us an island without a church, we all had the same name, ‘Kacunga’.  Yesterday we found the island: 50 people were saved and a new church is planted.  All because of prayer.”

Victory Kings Ministries are based in the city of Entebbe and the island of Jaana on Lake Victoria the largest lake in the continent of Africa.  Its shore runs not only through Uganda but through Tanzania and Kenya as well.  Victory Kings exists to bring the gospel to the 84 Ssese Islands in the Kampala District of the Lake, one of which is the island revealed to them in prayer. “99.9% of the Ssese islands believe in witchcraft and almost all are illiterate.  So far we have reached 10 islands and we continue to pray to reach the others.”  Continues Paul.

“I have just come back from Kacunga and the fellowship is so strong.  The island has no power, school or hospital and over 90% of people have HIV/AIDS, but prayer is making a difference.  The primary industry of the island is fishing so I am blessed to carry on Jesus’ ministry of raising fishermen to fishers of men.”

Isn't that incredible?  God speaks, pointing them to a specific island and they have the faith to go find it and preach the gospel!  But then commissioning missionaries through prayer is as old as the Church itself...

"While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off."
Acts 13:2-3

Lets open our ears to prompting of the Holy Spirit and see where God takes us to preach the gospel of Jesus.  Please pray for Paul and the Church as they continue to love, serve and share the gospel with residents of Kacunga Island and beyond.

Send us your stories of how God has led you in prayer and we may be able to publish it to encourage others to do the same.
