'Join us at Noon: The Lord's Prayer' by Wendy Andrews

Published: November 30th, 2007

Join the 24-7 community across the world and pray the Lord's Prayer at noon your time.

"To the man who prays habitually (not only when he feels like it - that is one of the snares of religion - but also when he does not feel like it) Christ is sure to make Himself real."

(James Stewart, a Scottish preacher)

The idea started with the Guildford Boiler Room in the UK as they sought to develop a way to pray together daily as a community. The Kansas City Boiler Room adopted it as well, impressed by its ingenious simplicity. At the 24-7 international gathering this October, someone suggested that we all set our watches, cell phones, and alarms at noon, and stop for a moment to say the Lord's Prayer. With this small action, wherever we were and whatever we were doing, we'd be joined by a daily display of devotion.

The noon prayer is a powerful way to re-center ourselves on Jesus as we go about our daily routines. If all our 24-7 friends around the globe adopted this simple rhythm, then on the hour every hour all around the world, we'd ceaselessly be asking our Father in heaven to bring His Kingdom and to do His will...

Join us at noon. Set your alarms and say the Lord's Prayer.

Wendy Andrews is a Wisconsin native who migrated south to Kansas City in 2005. She worked with 24-7 Prayer USA for five years, helping to build the U.S. team and resource base as well as connecting university students through the Campus America initiative. Now, in addition to being part of the Kansas City Boiler Room's core leadership team, she's turned a good bit of her focus to encouraging the fires of prayer across Asia, where she spends nearly a third of her time each year. As a matter of priority, Wendy spends regular time resting, running, drinking PG Tips, cooking large vegetable-full meals for friends and laughing.
