"Two weeks ago Chinese Christian students at our university prayed for 48 hours! We kicked off our prayer chain at the weekly fellowship time with a brief message on prayer and an exhortation to come to the fellowship apartment and pray for at least an hour. Twenty students signed up for 1 or 2 hour slots and one girl prayed for 4 hours. As the names filled each slot 48 hours of continuous prayer was covered!
At the end of 48 hours everyone gathered together to praise the Lord for what He had done. We jotted down a few of the things that students said. I hope you enjoying hearing from them!" Anon
At first when I heard about this I thought that we would all pray together for 48 hours. So I was disappointed to realize that we would just pray for an hour or two by ourselves. It took me a while to really have an attitude of prayer, but once I did it was wonderful! I felt like it was just me and God. All I wanted was a better relationship with Him. In the past I had doubted and felt that being a Christian was too difficult. I wanted to leave God. But during this time I experienced this deep feeling, “What would I do without God? I can’t imagine what it would be to live without God. What would I do without His love?”
One girl in our fellowship who is particularly shy said, “As I left my dorm room to go pray, my roommate asked me where I was going. I told her that I was going to save the world.” She said that she really enjoyed being all alone with God to praise Him and to express her frustration and anger to Him out loud. During the time she felt very saddened by realizing how many brothers and sisters from our fellowship were currently not walking with God or who had totally left the faith.
I thought that I would be very tired and that the hour of prayer would go very slow. But I wasn’t tired, and the time went very fast. I spent the whole time just praising and thanking God.
I normally can only pray for about 30 seconds at a time. But last night I prayed for 30 minutes!
I have often heard other Christians talk about their sorrow over their sin. But I always felt like I was a pretty good person. So I asked God to show me my true self. He revealed sin in my heart and led me to confess and repent.

Carla Harding champions prayer in the International 24-7 movement. Hailing from Chichester, England her life was hijacked by God in 1999 during a two hour stint in the first ever 24-7 Prayer Room. Carla is very happily married to Stephen and loves worshipping, blogging, films, books, friends, food, live music and international adventures.
