The Madison Boiler Room exists to love God, each other and the world. We are a Christ-centered family of friends, pursuing authenticity in relationships, unity in the church, and restoration in the world through our prayer and practice. As we begin to establish ourselves in Madison, we aim to express the six core Boiler Room practices, alongside the important practice of sabbath and celebration. As a relatively new Boiler Room, we've largely focused on strengthening our core relationships with each other in prayer, friendships and conversation about the vision and values we have for our lives, our community, our city and our world.
We have hosted a 24-7 Transit course since 2007, welcoming people from around the world into a year of discipleship, training and participation in local community. We also host a larger learning community for young adults and students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by national 24-7 Prayer communities leader Joe Steinke and others. We're also lucky to have Chelsea Dzenko, a former Transit participant and host in Guildford, and all round 24-7 Prayer internationally, as part of our leadership community here in Madison!
We have sent individuals and teams on short and long-term missional pilgrimages to 24-7 communities in Guildford, England, Boystown in Mexico, Ibiza, Spain, Uganda, China, New Orleans and Lake Tahoe.
Our community regularly hosts 24-7 Prayer Rooms in our city, going for up to forty days, and we seek to facilitate prayer in churches and communities through Madison. Tim Collier, one of our core leaders, is also involved with the Campus America project as prayer coordinator for universities in the state of Wisconsin.
We are a diverse, decentralized community who live in multiple intentional community houses and neighborhoods throughout the city, but are concentrated in Madison’s downtown/campus neighborhoods populated largely by artists, activists, and UW-Madison students. The community houses host weekly meals and gather regularly in diverse rhythms of prayer and hospitality. Our heart is to love and serve the whole church and city of Madison, with a special emphasis on reaching Madison’s downtown/campus community.
