The Presidents of all the University and College Christian Unions gathered to strengthen relationships in the city of Dublin last week. Together they ran a 24-7 Prayer week uniting the different CU’s, supporting and encouraging each other through prayer.
The colleges involved were Dublin City University, University College Dublin, the Dublin Institute of Technology, Trinity College, the Church of Ireland College of Education and the National College of Art and design. A list of prayer requests for all the CU’s was compiled and the days of the week were given to different groups.
It was a huge encouragement to see the wide variety of events going on in the various campuses across the city. In UCD the focus was on our Carol Service, which is one of the biggest events we run all year. We held our prayer room on the same day; starting at 8am and running right through to our Carol Service. The Prayer room was setup in the Contemplation room of the campus and the time of prayer was the foundation we needed to remind us what Christmas and singing Carols is all about.
The 24-7 Prayer week has helped give us focus as different CU’s of different sizes and colleges to come together in a unity. We have a greater awareness of how God is moving and we’re really looking forward to having Pete Greig come and speak to all the Dublin CUs in January. It’s our next joint event and we’ve asked him to speak about prayer & mission.
