As Angie muttered her simple, almost after thought of a prayer, she wasn’t expecting a full and immediate healing. God it seems had other plans and on the first evening of the 24-7 Round Table He was ready to move…
Angie and her husband Joe are the proud parents of five children and are committed to both their immediate family and their extended community in Mad City Church, Madison. Leaders of a training community they’ve learned many lessons about committing to walk with people in their journey with God and are bringing their accumulated wisdom and leadership to 24-7 Communities in the US.
When I first met Angie she struck me as gentle and warm, but there’s a wealth of wisdom, encouragement and laughter to be found as friendship deepens. Both she and Joe are an incredible blessing to the movement, so it was with glee that I greeted them at the Round Table in Seville, Spain.
During our opening night we threw ourselves into worship and prayer: many tongues, many tribes pouring out our adoration to God. In the midst of this torrent, God touched Angie in a powerful way.
“I’ve had a very sore right hip for years, probably a post pregnancy problem.” Writes Angie. “Sometimes traveling makes it worse and it had at times been so sore I didn’t like to touch it. The first night the leadership gathered we were in small groups praying for the week. I casually prayed this small prayer,
"…and Lord if you want to heal my hip, you can, and if you wish me to limp that's OK too. Amen.”
During the worship I began to feel waves of God's power and warmth pour over my body from my head to my feet. A headache I’d been suffering with went away and my hip pain was totally gone… Wow! It was that simple.”
As Angie shared her healing with the group our awareness of God’s presence, His power and His desire to move through our prayers was heightened. The annual gathering of key leaders from around the world is always an important time for vision. This year God had a clear message for us: 24-7 Prayer, keep praying. Keep praying and I’ll keep moving through your prayers. Keep praying and I will continue to draw close to you. Keep praying and I will direct your steps.
I love that I am a part of a prayer movement for regular people learning to pray by praying. I love that we can hold in balance the silence of God and His miraculous out workings. As we gathered to receive the call to prayer afresh, in the week before the 24-7 Feast, God was reaching out to us and saying, when you pray, even your most simple and hesitant prayers, I am listening.
