24-7 Prayer has always enjoyed and championed unity and involvement from many different streams of the body of Christ.  Though our denominations, networks and communities vary on how we approach areas of faith like the sacraments, how and when we meet and our focus within the gospel story, we all agree that talking to Jesus is a really good, life altering idea.

Many people approach prayer differently and we’re aware that many of the traditions explored in the movement (meditation, contemplation, artistic expression and the like) have caused some debate within the church. We believe God gave us renewed minds to ‘…be able to test and approve what God's will is…” (Rom 12:2) and that we should ‘Test everything. Hold on to the good.’ (1Thes 5:21).  The people that make up the 24-7 community have approached debate openly encouraging everyone to study the Bible, pray and talk to christians they respect to make up their minds.

Pete Greig’s book The Vision and The Vow explores what a lifestyle of discipleship could look like if we took the two greatest commandments and the great commission seriously in our daily lives.  The book is available from 24-7prayer.com and other online retailers like Amazon where it is reviewed by the public.  One reviewer on Amazon warned potential readers that it contained “false teaching totally contrary to God's Word”, because, “this author is part if a cult that looks spiritual when in fact, it is eastern mysticism with roots in paganism. Stay away!”

We take these comments very seriously and rather than respond we thought it might be good to open the issue up for debate to hear what you thought.

If you have read The Vision and The Vow and have a perspective on this statement we’d love to either hear from you directly or read your feedback on Amazon.  Let the conversation begin!
