The church that started the Alpha Course has invited Pete Greig, one of the founding champions of 24-7,  to become their Director of Prayer. From September, Pete will split his time between his ongoing commitment to 24-7 Prayer and this new role at Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB), in London. “We really believe that this is an exciting new development for Pete, for HTB and also for 24-7 Prayer,” says Ian Nicholson on behalf of the 24-7 International Team. “Pete's 100% commitment to the 24-7 community, to leading our International Team and to the Campus America vision is as strong as ever. This isn’t a partnership but we very much hope that the friendship between 24-7 and HTB will naturally deepen through the sharing of resources.”

Pete Greig said, "Samie and I are really excited about this new opportunity. HTB and Alpha are different to 24-7 in many ways, but the heart is the same. Like us, they’re longing to grow in the chemistry of prayer with mission.”

More than eleven million people around the world have participated in Alpha, which The Independent newspaper describes as ‘the world’s most popular course in Christianity’. HTB  has also started the second biggest prison ministry in the world, Worship Central with Tim Hughes and the Marriage Course. Its Theological School welcomes world-class teachers such as NT Wright and Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury. HTB Vicar Nicky Gumbel said, 'Pete Greig is a friend and we are delighted that he will be joining us.'

Like the 24-7 movement, Alpha has exploded from a single location in England to touch people all over the world. Another similarity is the shared vision for ‘the evangelization of the nations and the transformation of society’. “Admittedly this new development is a bit counter-intuitive,”  Pete admits, “because life’s already very busy and massively fulfilling as 24-7 continues to grow in such amazing ways. But when a bunch of humble, friendly people who’ve been responsible for leading so many thousands of people to Jesus come along and ask you for help, it’s pretty humbling and hard to say ‘no’!”

Pete and Samie and their sons Hudson and Daniel (pictured above) will continue to be part of the Boiler Room community in Guildford (near London, England) and Pete will still head up the 24-7 International Team. Please pray for the Greig family as they embark on this exciting yet challenging new development.
