Last month Sheena asked everyone to suggest what competition we could hold to raise money at Magnify: 24-7 Prayer’s International Gathering.  Suggestions came in ranging from mix CDs, to making 24-7 themed posters but one submission captured the imagination of the team and won the twitter test.  The competition we will be holding is:

If you’re coming to Magnify then get those creative juices flowing. Your entry can be sensible or silly, all you need to do is bring a hat you have made or customised to submit to our competition and then be willing to have it auctioned off to the highest bidder!  Each year we choose a person or situation that needs blessing and the outrageous generosity of the community flows through a competition and auction.  

Last year a 24-7 themed knitted jumper was auctioned for over €1000!  By the end of the auction everyone was throwing their loose change at the highest bidder to increase the total given to bless a family in Germany and the 24-7 team in Ibiza.  It’s always great fun so come prepared to submit a hat and take part in the auction.

If you’re stuck for ideas then think about your 24-7 experiences… Where have you been?  What have you done?  Who do you know?  Have you been challenged in prayer, mission or justice?  Creativity and fun are two of the values of the 24-7 movement so go wild.    The team batted around a few ideas and already rumours of a monk’s hat/lack of hair piece (nice nod to the more monastic Boiler Rooms in our network), a disco ball hat to represent the work of 24-7 Ibiza and a prayer hat to remind the wearer to invite the Holy Spirit (!) may be making an appearance.  You can probably think of something better than this so have a go and book your ticket to Magnify!
