Can Prayer Bring Murderers to Surrender?
Carla Harding  19th May 10

Praying 24-7-365 is a rewarding but challenging undertaking for a city, network or nation sharing out weeks and seeking God together.  It’s amazing therefore that the last 19 months have been filled in prayer by just one church in Philippines…

“What a victory, people said it couldn’t be done.” Writes Pastor Arthur Peter.  “The Lord did the impossible in our midst.  Wow, all things are possible with God. Miracles still happen. God kept the prayer going… We have seen so many answers.”

Throughout the last year I’ve been in touch with Arthur and the persevering members of his church.  It has been an amazing encouragement to see how a passion for holiness has emerged among the pray-ers and the ways in which God has responded to their intercession.  Here are just two of the many reasons why they are praising Jesus and still praying…

“There was a child named John in elementary grade, one day a tragic thing happened. He was playing when he fell from a tree and his head hit cement. His skull was cracked and John needed an operation his parents couldn’t afford.  Their faith in the Lord is very strong; they trust God for all that they need. They gave it to God but after a month fast still they could not afford the operation and the wound on their son’s head was getting worse.  It was a very delicate matter. They keep on praying, not losing hope and God heard them. One doctor offered to operate even if they couldn’t pay for it.  The operation was very successful. God provided for the needs of this family according to His riches and glory. Awesome!”

“A woman named Lelia, had a brother in law who was murdered. The family didn’t know who was responsible for almost a year. We started to pray for the investigation, wanting to know the truth.  God is awesome; He heard our cry. The murderer voluntarily surrendered himself because he couldn’t sleep.”

“Give God the glory”, insists Pastor Arthur who isn’t content to have only one church seeking God day and night. “New members are starting to come and join the prayer watches. Right now at this moment we are working on planting 2 other 24-7 churches on the island.”

As the church continues to pray we eagerly anticipate what God will do throughout the Philippines through His people.  If you've prayed 24-7 and have a testimony you think would encourage others why not email us or leave it in the comments below.

Carla Harding champions prayer in the International 24-7 movement.  Hailing from Chichester, England her life was hijacked by God in 1999 during a two hour stint in the first ever 24-7 Prayer Room.   Carla is very happily married to Stephen and loves worshipping, blogging, films, books, friends, food, live music and international adventures.

GOD truely is great. I am still growing in my faith, learning to trust GOD for everything. But these 2 stories are powerful reminders that our GOD is faithful and that He will answer all prayers, all we have to do is persist in prayer and faith.
