Fantastic Photos from Child Friendly Prayer Room, Finland
Carla Harding  5th Feb 10

“We had such a good time decorating that Prayer Room, it was held in a room dedicated to prayer in premises of small local children's day care centre.”  Writes Ella, a Prayer Room co-ordinator in Finland.  “It's a Christian place but most families are not believers, and yet want their children to have Christian education. We decorated the place on Thursday, had an opportunity for kids to come visit on Friday and then held 24-1 from Friday to Saturday… We had only a small group of people but for many of them the Prayer Room was dream come true as it was their first of a kind. Many who where in the Prayer Room had booked only one hour's slot to begin with and then found that it wasn't enough. Now they have already set a date for next month.”

I love how Ella and her team have designed the Prayer Room with Children in mind...

Virpi, a worker at the kindergarten shares more:

"After having had the first 24-1 at the kindergarten, we started using the Prayer Room with the children. We came in to the Prayer Room in small groups of three children at the time. We discussed with them about what prayer is and then we got to know what interesting things there were in the Prayer Room. Next the kids drew their own prayers which they could post on the wall. We also tried different ways to pray creatively: we danced, jumped, did somersaults (or rolly pollys :) which ever ways kids came up with! It was so much fun! This was good way to start praying with children and to learn more about prayer."

Many people around the world are looking to include all ages in prayer; 4 – 14 year olds are especially seeking God in Finland, India and the UK. 24-7 is looking to encourage children in prayer in 2010 – join Ella and be a key part of empowering a generation in prayer.

Have you included children and young people in your 24-7 Prayer Room?

Tell us how in the comments below.

Hello from California! I just found your site, and I am so excited!! I lead a Children’s Equipping Center in the San Francisco Bay Area- we have 30-40 kids right now, they pray on the microphone, pray Apostolic prayers, pray Adoration prayers and do scripture meditation. We have 2 prayer tracks right now for kids and they participate in various sets in our prayer room. :) Convergence House of Prayer, Fremont, California, US

Thank you David, Rebecca, Kay, Ian Jamie and Tjits,

Everywhere we talk about this including and empowering children in prayer has an impact and stirs people up. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do.

    Love,
    Carla

    Hi,
We went to the International House of Prayer in Kansas City from September to December in 2008. We were doing a 3 month course on Intimacy with Jesus, Intercession and The Endtimes. It was so awesome!!! Our kids were getting the same stuff taught on a childs’ level and were taken regularly to the Prayer Room there during their classes.
Every Tuesday the Children’s Equipping Centre (that provided the classes for the kids) had the Children’s Prayer Room and the kids were learning the Apostolic Prayers (prayers in the New Testament by the apostles) through music and actions, it was so encouraging!
When we came back we started the Inverness House of Prayer and every first Wednesday of the month this houses the Children’s Prayer Room in our house. It’s lots of fun with kids ranging from just over 1 year old to 14 years of age.
We start with some worship led by guitar (by David my husband) with lots of fabric and or musical toys/ instruments. We then go into a time of explaining a specific subject, this month it was about the children of Haiti, their needs and what we can pray for them. I use visual aids like a globe to show where they are and various pictures or even the internet with a foto of a child being rescued from the rubble. The kids love praying for other children.
We also pray for eachother’s healing if anyone, child or parent, is ill or knows anybody who isn’t well. And often we pray for Jesus to come into someone’s life if they don’t know Him yet (like any family member or friend).
Then we go in to the Apostolic Prayers with music and actions, and the kids looooove those as its very interactive too and they know a lot of the songs.
We start at 16.00 until about 17.00 and are very open to let the Holy Spirit take over in ‘our’ agenda.
So that’s what were doing at the moment and i’m always looking for ways to engage the children in a fun and meaningful way. So if you have any more ideas of what to do then please do email me on barefootwarriors@tiscali.co.uk.
Thanks for giving me the oppurtunity to share and for all that is being shared too, its very encouraging!
    Blessings,
    Tjits Powell

This is great! We’re doing our very first 24Hr prayer this weekend. The toddlers are all doing their slot now. Primary school kids are straight after that. So this is really encouraging, and I can’t wait to hear how it went.

We’ve involved our children (oldest is 4!) in our prayer rooms many times, and every time now. They colour and cut, read a children’s bible, look at photos and maps, sing and pray simple prayers. It’s manic but fun!

Last year, our 2-year old splurged some red paint on some paper in a prayer tent our community had set up, after we had been praying over the world using an inflatable globe. I thought it looked uncannily like Chinese characters, so cheekily hung it up to satisfy my own sense of humour! Amazingly, someone else saw it later that day who had been praying for China, and was moved to pray again, not realising the painting was a 2-year old’s splurges. I was so challenged to think that God could use his splurges, or even direct them!? Love it. :)

I love this What a blessing to know this! I connect!
. I am the head of a prayer organization in Greene County, Ohio, called the Greene County Prayer Coalition, uniting believers together to intercede for revival, pray for the family, government, businesses, media/entertainment, schools, military, and churches. Have been at this for a long time with the hope of working with a group of diverse believers to establish a 24/7 prayer. I have one church in our city that is open every Wednesday from noon-2:00 p.m.but I would like more and I would like help in praying for this please. Could you unite with me and the GCPC? We are desperate for a Christ Awakening. God has given me much favor, but a stronger anointing and protection is urgently needed. We have a prayer walk for our county coming up March 20th. And the warfare is getting more intense. Pray the body of believers including leaders would respond and take a stand for every city in Greene County, Ohio.
    Thanks for letting me share.
    Blessings,
    Kay

I’m so excited to read this! I’ve wanted to do prayer like this with kids for several years! Last year I had the opportunity to share the prayer room with several neighborhood kids who came over while we were doing 48 hours of prayer. I love the idea of putting together a prayer room specifically with children in mind, though. Thanks so much for sharing!

What a great idea! I have found the younger a child is the more they remember about heaven and how it was before they came to the earth. We can learn so much from children about God and heaven. My own children taught me much more about God than I could have ever learned on my own. Blessing, DL
